ERS 2026 to Spotlight Luca Healthcare’s Scaled COPD Screening and Smartphone Lung Function Innovations

Barcelona, Spain — September 2026 — Luca Healthcare today announced that two of its research abstracts have been officially accepted for presentation at the European Respiratory Society (ERS) International Congress 2026, taking place 5–9 September in Barcelona, one of the world’s largest and most influential respiratory science meetings.

The acceptance marks another milestone in Luca’s expanding global scientific footprint, following its presentations at ERS 2025 and the American Thoracic Society (ATS) 2026 in the United States.

1. AI-powered cough analysis for community-based COPD screening: deployment and outcomes from 246 communities across 32 Chinese cities

This study demonstrates the real-world performance of Luca’s acoustic AI model deployed across diverse community hospital settings, highlighting its potential to close the diagnostic gap in early COPD detection.

2. DeepSpiro: Smartphone-Based Lung Function Estimation From Forced-Exhalation Sound — A Multicenter Development and Validation Study

This multicenter study validates Luca’s DeepSpiro technology, showing how smartphone-based forced-exhalation acoustics can estimate lung function without traditional spirometry hardware.

ERS 2026: A Global Stage for Respiratory Innovation

ERS 2026 Barcelona will convene thousands of clinicians, researchers, and industry leaders to showcase the latest advances in respiratory medicine. The Congress features priority topics across COPD, asthma, digital diagnostics, clinical research collaborations, and emerging technologies.

With more than 90 abstracts from ERS-supported Clinical Research Collaborations (CRCs) and hundreds more from global institutions, ERS remains the premier venue for unveiling breakthroughs in respiratory science.

“We are honored to present our work again at ERS. These two studies reflect years of rigorous clinical validation and real-world deployment across China. Our goal is to make respiratory diagnostics more accessible, reliable, and continuous — from community hospitals to smartphones. ERS provides an unparalleled global forum to share our progress, and we look forward to deepening collaborations across Europe,” Dr. Echo Chen, Chief Executive Officer, Luca Healthcare

Luca Healthcare’s presence at ERS 2026 continues a strong trajectory of international scientific engagement:

  • ERS 2025 (Amsterdam) – Introduced early results from Luca’s acoustic biomarker platform and community screening pilots.
  • ATS 2026 (Orlando, FL) – Presented multicenter validation data and U.S. feasibility studies.
  • ERS 2026 (Barcelona) – Showcases scaled deployment outcomes and smartphone-based lung function innovation.

This progression underscores Luca’s commitment to advancing respiratory diagnostics through clinically validated AI and multimodal acoustic biomarkers.
